Over 7,000 Students Take Part in Data Analysis National Olympiad

Data analysis enthusiasts from different regions of Russia and 13 foreign countries recently took part in the Data Analysis National Olympiad (DANO). The results of the first round will be announced on October 20th.

‘Compared to 2021, this year, there were almost 2.5 times more participants taking part in the first (qualifying) round. We’re confident that the number of participants will increase every year, because DATA is everywhere around us,’ says Mikhail Cherepovsky, co-head of the Data Analysis National Olympiad.

The second (qualifying) round will be held online on November 6th, 2022. Students in grades 9 to 11 and students in vocational education can take part in it. They will have to solve data analysis tasks.

The final round of DANO will be held in two stages:

a task tour to test advanced data analysis skills;

 a full—time project tour in the format of a school in the Moscow region, where participants will develop a team research project based on real databases with the help of expert mentors from Tinkoff and IT and economics students from HSE and co-organizing universities.

Before each round of the Olympiad, participants will be able to get access to an online course from Tinkoff experts in the field of data analysis, allowing them to learn more about the theory of data analysis, as well as a video podcast from HSE experts, a library of materials with a selection of literature on the topic and tasks from last year’s Olympiad, along with demos of this season's tasks and other useful materials.

Participants with the best results will get the opportunity to study at on a funded place at HSE, and the winners will receive additional points for admission to data analysis programmes at HSE and co-organizing universities including Innopolis University, ITMO, Ural federal University, and Adygea State University, as well as preferential treatment in the selection process for the ‘Tinkoff Start’ internship later in their education. There’s also the chance to win an annual subscription to Tinkoff Pro and other gifts.

Analysis of the tasks as well as task examples can be found on the event’s Telegram channel.
