The Olympiad competition in various subject areas under the field of today’s design will be held online and in two rounds:
- Round 1: from October 16 to November 25, 2023 – preparation and submission (from November 14 to November 25, 2023) of creative projects to HSE University as per the instructions published on the Olympiad’s website;
- Round 2: from December 4 to December 15, 2023 – online interviews about the creative works of the participants who progressed to Round 2.
An Olympiad assignment includes the completion of a creative project (two files: a cover page and the project’s presentation) on one of the topics under the following proposed subject areas: Design Communications, Animation and Illustration, Environmental Design, Interior Design, Design and Programming, Design and Contemporary Art, Game Design; Event Design: Theater and Performance; CGI and Visual Effects; Digital Product Design and Promotion; Media and Design; Design and Advertising; Comic Book; Fashion Design; Photography; Branding in Fashion.
When working on their creative project, participants should select the subject area and complete a series of works on an independently devised topic (from six to 12 works). A project’s topic shall be selected independently and must fully demonstrate the participant’s creative potential and thinking.
A participant’s work should feature consistency in style; conceptual cohesion; an original premise; a harmonious colour scheme and composition. Works may be produced with the application of any technique, but they should develop into a single series with an overarching theme. Furthermore, projects may be produced with computer tools or manually.
