HSE Launches Fifth International Youth Olympiad

This Olympiad will be held in October 2017 in CIS countries, Baltic States, and throughout Europe and Asia. Registration is now open. Please note that the Olympiad will be held in the Russian language only and you must attend in person.

Your participation in the competition will help to determine your degree programme and career track. If you are graduating from high school soon, you may also benefit from the opportunity to get some extra credit for your university application.

First-place winners and prize winners of the competition held in 2017-18 will have the option of using their excellent academic results during admission to HSE undergraduate programmes in 2018 on a state-funded basis.

You may take part in the Olympiad if all the following criteria are met:

• you are a citizen of a country other than Russia, a Russian citizen residing abroad, or a stateless person;
• you are a 8-11th (9-12th) grade student at a secondary school, lyceum, gymnasium, technical school or other similar institution of general education;
• you are under 30 years of age.

In 2017, the Olympiad will cover the following disciplines: Asian Studies, Design, Journalism, History, Cultural Studies, Mathematics, Media Communications, Legal Studies, Psychology, Social Sciences (Humanity. Society and State), Modern Politics, Philology, Philosophy, Advertising and Public Relations. All competitions require personal attendance except for Design, which will be held remotely (instructions for participants will be published on the website).

If you wish to take part in the Olympiad, please make sure to get registered (registration is mandatory) at http://myolymp.hse.ru/proforientation.html. Please register online by October 10, 2017, as you won’t be able to get registered at the venue.

Successful participation in the competition requires a serious background in the respective disciplines. To prepare, please feel free to make use of the materials available at https://olymp.hse.ru/inter/demo/2017. This webpage contains a demo version of the assignments, as well as recommendations and suggested reading with respect to all of the disciplines.

We are planning to hold this Olympiad in the following countries:

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Latvia, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and possibly several other countries. This year, the competition will also be held in Greece and Romania for the first time ever.

Participation in the Olympiad is free of charge.
